A Lovely Pair

A pair of pears

Lived in the fridge

And the all the veg would stare

In admiration

All agreed

They made a lovely pair

And when the pears

Passed through the fridge

They did so with an air

Of sophisticated elegance

And all the veg would stare

‘Who do they think they are

These pears?

Do they think we care

About their green and shapely curves?’

And the envious veg would glare

The two pretentious

Pears meandered

Through the fridge all day

And listened as the other veg

Slyly turned their way

And whispered to each other

That it really wasn’t fair

How such style and beauty

Had been gifted to the pair

They were aware

These pair of pears

How they were talked about

But neither pear

Could really care

As being talked about

Is clearly preferable by far

Than not being talked about

A pair of pears

Lived in the fridge

And all the veg would stare

Begrudgingly

They all agreed

They made a lovely pair
